Blues dance in Tokyo has a new instructor!!

Please welcome Ari from CA, USA as the new lead instructor. He will be teaching with the only female Blues instructor in Tokyo, Yoko. (We finally have a couple teaching Blues dance in Japan!!)

So there will be a big firework festival in Minatomirai tonight. Some of you may feel just want to relax and enjoy it. So I will set the time only from 8:30pm to 10pm. (I will be there by 8:20)

Come and have a bit of blues dancing before you go home after the summer celebration. :)

Depends how many will show up, it might be another really good semi-private lesson… :P

- Please come in with appropriate attire. Jeans or slacks are recommended for ladies. (Changing rooms/rest rooms are available inside the studio)

BURN BLUE YOKOHAMA: Premier Night for Swing Dancers!!

**This event is limited only for those who have been, or just started dancing lindy-hop**

“Swing and Blues are like lovers,” said a wonderful blues/lindy instructor, and he also said it was when he learned how to dance blues that he improved his lindy-hop the most.

So many had said the similar and I am also the one who benefitted from blues dancing.

Wondering why? Some of many reasons why maybe is because blues intensively focus on connection and frame, which are also the crucial factors of good lindy-hopping…

So this is for YOU, lindy-hoppers!! I am dedicating the first night of my weekly blues night only for lindy-enthusiasts in Japan. One of my passion is to share my skill and knowledge on blues dancing with lindy-hoppers here, who are of course my good friends, so you can enjoy lindy even more!!

I hope you will enjoy it. :)

Beginner’s blues dance lesson consisting…
- Logical explanation on how to move, utilizing knowledge on music, physics, anatomy, or even psychology.
- Many exercises you can do on your own or with a partner, that will help you with frame and connection.
- Unique aspects for dancing from yOKO, which will help you to see dancing in new ways, and enjoy it fully.
- About one hour of DJed dance time after the lesson, which you can get feedback if requested.

＊＊このイベントは、リンディ・ホップを踊られている方、もしくは始められた方のみを対象とさせていただきます＊＊

「スイングとブルーズは恋人同士みたいなものさ。」と言っていたのは、あるブルーズ／リンディ・ホップのインストラクターでした。彼が言うには、リンディ・ホップが一番上達したのは、ブルーズを学んだ時だったそうです。

他の多くのダンサーが同様のことを言い、私自身もその一人です。

なぜでしょう？おそらく理由の一つはブルーズが、リンディでも繰り返し叫ばれるフレームとコネクションを最も重要な要素とするダンスだからでしょう。

それこそが、私がこのイベントを企画した理由です。本イベントは、今後私が主催する毎週行われるブルーズのダンスタイムのプレミアイベントとして、日本のリンディ・ホッパー達に捧げます！シアトルを去った後も、私が踊り続けられたのは皆さまのおかげです。皆さまがブルーズを学ぶことによって、リンディをもっともっと楽しめることが出来たら、こんなにうれしいことはありません。

・音楽、物理学、解剖学や心理学の知識を生かした理論的な動き方の説明。
・フレームとコネクションの上達のために一人・もしくはパートナーと出来るエクササイズ。
・ダンスに対する見方が変わり、もっともっとダンスが楽しくなる、ダンスに対するyOKOのユニークな観点の紹介。
・リクエストでフィードバックも貰える、レッスン後の約一時間のDJダンスタイム。
